In this modern age of social media boon, many brands wrongly believe that they can get away with only having a strong social media presence to succeed digitally. A website, for most, is a vanity item and even an unnecessary expense they would rather not incur. You might probably be one of those who think this way.
But with the ever-increasing censorship on these platforms, have you ever paused for a moment to think what would happen to your brand should your social media account be suspended for any of the countless infractions big social media companies keep sneaking into their Terms & Conditions?
Do you open an interim account to circumvent the suspension? How will your clients/followers know that the new account is still you and not an impersonator? Do you move to another social media site where you have a weaker following? What happens to, say, your Instagram clients if you shift to Twitter? Who answers their responses and enquiries? If you are a retail business, who processes their orders?
These are all concerns several clients I've spoken to have had while running their brands exclusively on social media. And it is a real worry that any serious brand should be prepared for.
With your own website, you control the content and have full ownership of everything that you post. You get to build your brand on your own terms. Top brands know that social media is merely a highway to drive traffic to their own websites.
All that said, nice to meet you. I am Bob Oyier. Let's build something special.
